The SCarab Page of Anime
Hi

Cartoons are fun. When you're young, that's expected. As you grow older, it seems a little more odd, but more and more cartoons are at least somewhat targeting the college audience. Recently, I've really enjoyed The Tick, Animaniacs, Batman, Darkwing Duck, ... And of course, I grew up on the standard Buggs Bunny, Warner Brothers stuff. But all along, I've found that certain styles of animation drew me in more, made me more willing to accept a relatively serious plotline. So, the first cartoon I remember is Speed Racer. My favorite cartoon growing up was certainly Star Blazers. Eventually, I learned that these and other favorites were of a general style of Japanese animation, Anime. The first time I remember seeing it referred to that way was the SciFi channel's 1st Annual Festival of Anime. It included Vampire Hunter D, Dominion: Tank Police, and Lensman. More recently, I've become friends with Dan Forrest, someone with a huge collection of fan-subtitled anime. I've watched and enjoyed much, and thought that some of you out there might like to know which ones I think are "must see," and which are relatively missable.

I've compiled a list of anime items which I recall seeing; my rough rankings of them, and comparisons with other people's ratings, are given on my comparisons page. Also note that linked there are my descriptions and likes/dislikes of most of the items listed.
