    A Fun series.

I'm writing this on August 15, 1998. Last viewing: at least 6 months ago

Two female adventurers. One, a strong fighter. The other, a flighty, cat-like magic user. A recipe for a boring series with only T&A appeal. But this ends up pulling off something much better.

Often, magic in any entertainment medium (movies, TV, books, ...) is not done well, at least as far as how I think it would affect the world and society. This one remains internally consistant. And it brings in a new twist: the main character (the warrior woman) can do incredible magics, but at a cost: any time she does, she turns into a mouse until she can drink an antidote. A very hefty drawback. This ability can seem like a Deus-ex-machina on occasion, but generally, it's well carried off.

The characters are sufficiently interesting as well. There's the two Good Guys. Then there's the group of bad guys who work with the good guys because they have the same goals. Then there's the mysterious generally good guy who most of the female characters go after. And of course, they are all going along, pursuing the truly evil.

A reasonably short series with some good highlights. A bit slow at times, but usually a fun ride.
