    A waste of time.

I'm writing this on September 19, 1999. Last viewing: 1 day ago

I taped this one from the Independant Film Channel, and left the tape on the shelf for a very long time. I wish I never watched it.

Ooh, look, some violence. Oh, some more, with some gore. And... another situation leading up to... yep, violence. Then a touch of nudity. And then get back to... gore and violence.

Perhaps in some long-distant past, there actually was a plot, and a reason to care about any of the characters. But there was absolutely nothing left in the movie I saw. Don't get me wrong: I can enjoy a bunch of mindless violence if it's presented in a setting that it's easy to escape completely into (i.e. Conan). Or if it's presented in an interesting way (i.e. Jackie Chan films). But here, none of the characters were remotely likable, or even comprehensible. The animation was rough and crude: the backgrounds were often simply dark blurs, and the motion of the characters was jerky, almost as if people had traced over roughly spliced-together chunks of live-action film. I could find absolutely nothing good about it: the first time that has ever happened with anime I've seen. I suppose that that may be due to the fact that I've usually seen things on the recommendations of friends. But since it takes so long to make animation, I would expect that more care would be taken in the plot. That certainly wasn't the case here. Oh, well. Avoid this one.
