    Sufficiently weird.

WARNING! If I do ever end up putting this on the internet, beware, there are spoilers below!

I'm writing this on August 2, 1998. Last viewing: 2 days ago.

The fourth and final showings from Sci-Fi channel's Anime week '98.

I'd already seen a couple of episodes and the other movie (Lum: The Forever), so I already knew the characters a bit. I couldn't really get into the episodes much, but I really rather liked the other movie. This was a very reasonable presentation of the characters: I liked this representation more than the episodes: less silly, a bit more mature.

Basic plot: Day before the school festival repeats endlessly, with just a few people figuring it out. Soon, no one can leave the town, and more and more people disappear. They discover that the town is riding on the back of a giant turtle (which had references to it earlier), then conclude that it's all a dream; Lum's dream. She wants to live happily with "Darling" and his family and friends forever. A weird happy demonic force is providing the power to make this "pure" dream come true. Eventually, they defeat him.

A reasonable choice if you're in the mood for nothing spectacular, but still interesting, anime.

The best of the set from Anime Week '98.

Note: since viewing this, I saw some Lum episodes, and there was one which had a striking similarity: a giver of dreams had to keep feeding this monster that ate nightmares. Ataru woke up at a bad time, though, and they appeared in the real world. Neither show spoils the other, and it was a rather nice episode.
