The third anime I've seen on IFC. Given how highly ranked the previous 2 shows I saw among some other people (Grave of the Fireflies, and A Wind Named Amnesia, both 5 stars according to the T.H.E.M. review), I was rather hopeful. This one, though, seemed wholly unremarkable. Psychics try to save the world against a super-powerful being bent on destruction for the sake of destruction. A female psychic (mentalist) from Transylvania, a robotic fighting machine from another world, and a Japanese telekinetic high school student are the main characters. Nothing beyond the expected came from them, once you know that much about them. Evil beings do the standard evil things, and bring terrible destruction.
The animation was interesting enough, though the faces weren't along the styles which I tend to find more appealing. And a bit too much of the animation was not clean: one cel against a moving background, or various scans & zooms on a single image.
Again, nothing essentially wrong with it, and it can well fill the desire for some decent anime, but there just didn't seem to be enough there to wholly embrace it.
