A wonderful series. The characters really aren't the greatest, being somewhat flat, but the plotline is very strong, and holds true throughout the series. The supporting characters provide the necessary comic relief or interesting aside, and the enemies are certainly menacing and truly evil.

Lots and lots of cartoon violence. Perhaps seeing an unkillable guy "die" again and again and again would get to some people, but I found how he dealt with it fascinating and fun. I hate real violence, but when you're fighting supernatural demons, hey, it's just got to happen.

The overall coherence of the plot, the way it all seems to "ring true" in the world of this story, is really what has made me such a great fan. It does have the occasional trips into the truly bizarre, but those are always eventually connected rather well to the main plot. And hints are made, and the characters progress, all in a coherent way: there's obviously a plan for the whole story, beginning to end. But it's not just that the plot is there, it's always told in an interesting way. My category of "plot" above contains that aspect of storytelling, not just the storyline. In anime storytelling, I haven't found better.
