This fourth page is devoted to a set of drawings made the month after those shown on the third page. I decided to continue trying to produce stuff for the Monthly Anime Character site, since it was rather enjoyable.

The November 1998 MAC character was Ashram, the main enemy from Lodoss Wars. Since I had seen and liked that series, it wtill seemed appropriate. Also, I saw the few very beginning episodes on the Sci-Fi channel's Saturday anime recently, so although Ashram didn't appear in those episodes, it got me reacquainted with the style. (A web search helped a bit also.)

I originally planned to try two different styles: one semi-deformed, the other serious. I got started almost immediatly after the he was revealed as this month's character (about the 10th, since the site was having computer problems). I sketched the deformed version very quickly, then almost immediately began the Photoshop work (scanning, tracing, coloring), but then set it aside for several weeks. Well, as I write this, it's Thanksgiving day, and I just submitted it. So I never got around to the serious version. Oh well.

The first picture here is a screen shot, from which I took much of the inspiration and many of the colors.

So here's the version which I actually submitted. I think the parallels to the above image should be obvious. (Note: it also has the first appearance of the credit SCarab.

Here's an idea I was playing around with, but decided against: for a background, use a heavily Photoshop-filtered version of a photograph which I took of the gate of a German castle. Here's the result.

This was a lot of fun to play around with. I hope that the MAC continues to choose characters which I know.
