I enjoy science fiction enough that I decided to try my hand at writing some. But since it takes a lot to motivate me, I didn't really start until, while at Penn State, I found out about Problem Child: the Scholars' Program literary magazine. One of my friends (from playing Dungeons and Dragons) was on its staff, and became president, due to an utter and complete lack of interest by others. Well, I had liked writing and drawing, so I offered to join its staff. Then, when I found out about its rather significant lack of submissions, I decided to write and draw some things to submit to the magazine. The result that first year was "Nobot knows the troubles I've seen." It was liked enough to be published, along with a couple of sketches of mine. The following year was my senior year, in which I submitted and had published "The Mad Scientist." Later that year, we hoped to release another issue, but time ran out. For that issue, I wrote "Transient Response." I do not know whether or not they chose to use it for the following issue. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate an e-mail.
So anyway, here are the stories, in relatively html-friendly format. Please note that all of these things are copyrighted by me, Steve Carabello, from the time they were written.
