I'm writing this on March 3, 2000. Last reading: about 2 weeks ago
I picked this up because it was on a sale shelf, and on the cover was the quote: "The best novel about wired culture since the SF debut of Neal Stephenson." --LISA GOLDSTEIN, author of _The Red Magician_. Well, I think Stephenson's _Snow Crash_ is among the best things I've ever read, so if this were even close, it would be worth reading.
Well, it was pretty good. But I had to reserve judgement on the thing until rather late in the reading: I never had a dislike for any part, but it never had me "hooked" either. The technology ideas were interesting and plausible, but some of the philosophy was not to my tates.
I've only read about 6 or so "cyberpunk" style novels. This is certainly well above average. (Though it falls far, far short of the afore-mentioned _Snow Crash_.)
That's it for this review... don't want to get into spoilers.
